The client was upgrading its new generation of commercial water purification equipment. The sanitary welded stainless steel tank had to store and filter drinking water with no sanitary dead corners, no deformation under rated water pressure, and a corrosion-resistant, easy-to-clean surface for long-term commercial operation.

CORE PROJECT SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Material: Food-grade 304 stainless steel sheet, 1.5mm–2.0mm thick, with thickened stainless steel pipe fittings at water circuit interfaces.
  • Precision: Water circuit interface coaxiality ±0.05mm; overall tank geometric tolerance ±0.2mm; qualified cover mounting surface flatness.
  • Performance: Fully sealed leak-free structure, no internal sanitary dead corners, meeting food-grade fluid storage requirements.

2. DFM OPTIMIZATION: ENGINEERING FOR SANITARY STAINLESS STEEL TANKS

Within 24 hours of receiving the 3D STEP drawings and sanitary specifications, Deeplink's engineering team completed a free DFM analysis and proposed four core optimizations:

A. One-Piece CNC Bending Forming We replaced the multi-piece spliced welded structure with a one-piece CNC bending forming process, reducing side longitudinal weld seams, improving structural rigidity and sealing reliability, and minimizing internal sanitary dead corners.

B. Fixture-Positioned Sanitary TIG Welding Dedicated jigs secured the threaded water circuit interfaces during precision TIG (argon shielded) welding. Segmented symmetrical welding controlled deformation, ensuring interface coaxiality and perpendicularity and eliminating misalignment and leakage risks.

C. Cover Sealing Structure Access cover mounting studs adopted rivet pressing plus local reinforcement instead of full-length welding, avoiding thermal deformation of the tank plate and ensuring uniform gasket compression for long-term leak-free sealing.

D. Food-Grade Electropolishing Upgrade We upgraded mechanical polishing to a food-grade electropolishing process that uniformly treats internal weld seams and dead corners, producing a denser passive film, lower surface roughness and significantly improved corrosion resistance and hygiene grade.

First-article samples completed water leakage testing within 4 days. After on-equipment assembly verification confirmed sealing, accuracy and surface hygiene, the client approved mass production.


4. FULL-CHAIN MANUFACTURING & QUALITY CONTROL

The first batch of 300 sets was completed in only 30 days, 5 days ahead of schedule, using 6 automated production lines at an 80% automation rate.
